SCHOLASTIC ASSOCIATE

My grew up in Vietnam and moved to Westminster, California in 2012, where she learned about the intersectionality between health disparities and various underlying social issues affecting historically marginalized communities. She also realized a burning passion for community service and education while serving as an after-school staff throughout her high school career. In college, she pursued a degree in Public Health and Global Poverty & Practice, while providing both direct service and organized advocacy events to empower patients in the Oakland Chinatown community. Through the experience working at a health clinic and interacting with community members, she learned that empowerment through education can bring positive change and lift up disenfranchised communities, allowing future generations to become their own advocates. Now residing in Philadelphia, she hopes to continue to work with organizations like Project SCIFI to inspire, empower, and expose students to scientific education.
